The AIDS Walk is a grassroots initiative of The AIDS Network designed to raise funds that will stay in our community to improve the lives of people living with or affected by HIV in Hamilton and surrounding regions Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant.

This year’s theme is Walk Away from Stigma. Despite significant advancements in science and medicine that provide tools to ensure longer, happier lives for those living with HIV, stigma continues to be one of the greatest barriers to achieving longer and happier lives. The AIDS Network is committed to destigmatizing HIV by endorsing U=U (undetectable = untransmittable). U=U means that if an individual living with HIV has a viral load that is low enough to be undetectable, there is no risk of transmitting it to their partner, as demonstrated by two major studies. The key to achieving undetectability is staying on treatment. Since U=U is not publicly known, the Walk aims to raise awareness of U=U and what it means for destigmatizing HIV.

We are inviting you to participate in The AIDS Network’s Walk Away from Stigma Week, an online format to include an in-person format of our popular annual walkathon fundraiser event. Between September 19th and September 25th,  we will ask our friends and supporters in the community to use their personal social media to spread our awareness message and to ask their friends and family to donate to The AIDS Network.

Historically, The AIDS Network’s annual AIDS Walk fundraiser has brought hundreds of people together to raise awareness and to support the vital HIV/AIDS prevention, support and harm reduction services offered to the 1.5 million people living in our communities of Hamilton, Halton, Norfolk, and Brant.

Funds raised from Walk Away from Stigma Week will allow The AIDS Network to continue to provide these valuable services to individuals in need. But we need your help to do this. We are looking for local businesses and organizations like yours to help us make this event truly special for our community. We would like to extend an invitation to you participate in this event as an event sponsor to help us cover the costs of running this fundraising campaign. In these unprecedented times, anything you can do to help us is appreciated. Title sponsorship is available.

We hope that you are interested in joining our efforts to improve the lives of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
