We are proud to announce the launch of GetaKit by The AIDS Network!
Through GetaKit, you can order a free, rapid HIV testing kit, delivered to your address.
The AIDS Network is piloting GetaKit, an HIV self-test delivery program. GetaKit by The AIDS Network is designed to make HIV self-testing available free for individuals living in the regions we serve (Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant Ontario).
You are eligible if you are:
GetaKit by The AIDS Network is a service which aims to increase HIV testing, the frequency of testing, the number of people who know their status, and the number of people linked to treatment and care — all of which contribute to decreasing HIV transmission. Having these accessible and lower barrier HIV tests are particularly important to reduce infection rates in key population groups such as: Gay, bisexual, transmasculine identified individuals and men who have sex with men; People of African, Caribbean and other Black descent; and People who use substances and/or inject drugs.
If you find you are not eligible for this service, do not worry, there are other opportunities to get tested for free.
GetaKit first launched in Ottawa July 20, 2020 to study the feasibility of a mail-out HIV self-testing program, and is co-led by the University of Ottawa and the Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN), with support from Ottawa Public Health, MAX Ottawa, AIDS Committee of Ottawa.
