2019/2020 Report To The Community

We have had a year filled with challenges and are proud of how we have risen to meet them, but we cannot do it without the help of our friends and family in our communities. This holiday season, please give generously and help ensure that we can continue to deliver our most vital programs and services supporting people living with, affected by and disproportionately vulnerable to HIV in Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant.

The Highlights

This years Community Impact Report highlights messages from our community partners, and ways we have grown and adapted in order to provide top-notch programming and services, even as we face new challenges, particularly the COVID-19 Pandemic. In the past year, The AIDS Network has

  • Expanded mobile harm reduction services to more of our regions
  • Adapted our practical support programs to better serve the emerging needs of our clients
  • Distributed over 2000 free, non-medical face masks to vulnerable individuals
  • Successfully adapted our education, community engagement and fundraising activities to respond to the new challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic

Words from our Friends

“The AIDS Network has been a valued and vital partner to our organization, the Hamilton Social Medicine Response Team (HAMSMaRT) as we work towards our goal of providing excellence in clinical care to individuals poorly served by the traditional medical system. The AIDS Network is a place where our patients feel comfortable, accepted and valued, and as such is an ideal location for us to provide medical care. We are proud to work with an organization that is clearly skilled and committed to the ideal of doing whatever it takes to improve the lives of the individuals which it serves”

Doctor Tim O’Shea,

HAMSMaRT

“In a world where most agencies and government departments say no, or “give us this”, TAN says yes and what do you need. TAN says yes to hosting our drop in, TAN says yes to being meaningfully low barrier, TAN says yes to supporting our growth. It is no exaggeration to say that we punch above our weight as an organization because of the support of TAN, which has enabled us to spend all of our energies focusing on people, not infrastructure and bureaucracy. It is hard to overstate the importance of that kind of unsung support”

Lisa Nussey,

Keeping Six

“The AIDS Network is a tremendous partner for the Halton Equity & Diversity Roundtable. Not only are they our Trustee, which supports us to secure funding for the work of the roundtable, staff are highly visible and participative in the Equity and Diversity work in the Halton region. Both agencies have great synergies and we both access and support similar intersectional communities”

Marcus Logan,

Halton Equity & Diversity Roundtable

“The AIDS Network is our most invaluable community partner. Without their support and willingness to help our cause, we would have had much less capacity to deploy our outreach services”

Jelena Vermilion

We Need Your Help

This holiday season, please give generously and help The AIDS Network continue to provide some of our most vital programs and services to some of our communities most vulnerable members.

The AIDS Network provides prevention, support, harm reduction & education programs and services in Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant. We are the only AIDS Service Organization working in a region of 1.5 million people, and our programs serve hundreds of individuals who are living with, affected by or disproportionately vulnerable to HIV.

As our 2019/2020 Report to the Community shows, there is still a great need for our work. As well, new, emerging needs are testing our capacity as crises like the opioid overdose epidemic collide with the new challenges caused by COVID-19. We urgently need your help this holiday season, and are asking for your help so that we can continue to make a positive impact in our communities and for the people we help.
