I Walk because HIV affects my community

August 25, 2021

When it comes to HIV, African / Caribbean Black communities are still more vulnerable. Although we make up only 2.5% of the population in Canada, we represent over 13% of this countries HIV cases. Systemic racism, distrust of medical institutions and a lack of culturally relevant education increase our vulnerability.

The AIDS Network’s African/Caribbean Black Community Outreach program is a community based response to HIV while being culturally relevant to all African, Caribbean and Black people in our region.  Through support, community training, advocacy and education, The AIDS Network aims to reduce new transmission and envisions an environment that is supportive of those living with and affected by HIV in African, Caribbean and Black communities in our regions.

The AIDS Network relies on the support of our friends and allies within the communities that we serve to deliver our most crucial programs and services. Show your support today and help us to continue our mission to respond to the impact of HIV. We imagine a world without new infection and long, healthy lives for people living with, affected by, and vulnerable to HIV.
