Over the next several months, our friends and partners at the Women & HIV/AIDS Initiative (WHAI) are hosting a series of web-gatherings on women and harm reduction!
Across the province, harm reduction services are underutilized by women and gender-diverse communities. Structural and societal realities present barriers to service access for women and gender-diverse communities. Experiences with discrimination, exposure to violence and harm reduction services that lack a focus on the specific resource and service needs of women and gender-marginalized groups may deter access for these priority groups.
As community care workers we seek to ensure that we are building our harm reduction capacities to specifically meet the needs of women and gender-diverse communities.
WHAI is dedicated to helping build empathy and inspire our networks to centre the needs of priority gender-marginalized communities in harm reduction, and to implement tools that encourage and retain women and gender-diverse clientele.
