The Red Scarf Campaign
Leading up to AIDS Awareness Week (November 24-December 1), volunteers knit red scarves. To kick-off AIDS Awareness Week, interactive public awareness art installations are set up with hundreds of red scarves lining the streets. The scarves are free and are taken by community members. The scarves represent the red ribbon which is the international symbol of HIV/AIDS awareness. Not only do the scarves help raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, but they also share the warmth for those who may be in need.
